Is it not common sense that posting or sharing via the internet photos taken without consent (or often awareness), for the express or implied purpose of ridicule is a form of bullying? How can the same people who share kind and cute things intersperse them with humor that is so obviously mean-spirited?

Why is it I immediately cast my mind over any picture or pinterest I've posted recently -- when I don't think I've done anything wrong - but the first impulse was to worry!

You have made me curious, though.

I know a picture I saw on facebook this morning that I thought in poor taste, but it wasn't of anyone I knew -- although come to think of it, you didn't say this was a known person, just that whomever posted it was known to you. So maybe it's the same distasteful picture that you are referring to.

I agree with you. People find it all too easy to laugh at others. I don't like that kind of humor.

Probably the same picture.. I've seen it before. How easily could it be someone you know, how hurtful would it be to run across something like that of yourself or a loved one on the internet? Or any of the "people of Walmart" sort of things... Yknow, some of those are posed for, consented to, and I don't so much mind seeing those around on principle, but the secret cellphone snap trend bothers the hell out of me. And I think the general attitude about it contributes to the shame and mishandling of all these teen and pre-teen cyber bullying instances, as well. There's the same kind of acceptance of shame based harassment, the anonymous objectification of a non consenting party.

I hadn't seen it before, and other than what shows up on FB, I don't go around to the "people of walmart" type sites. But yeah -- hadn't thought of it, but it would be horrific if you stumbled on a picture of yourself being splashed around like that.

It's not funny.

But I don't guess people stop and think.... What if that was me? What if it was someone I loved?

I suppose I click through humor links on Pinterest too often for my own good!
