Dishwasher

So many different "tricks" for cleaning the dishwasher with vinegar. I'm trying the 1/2 of white vinegar on the top shelf, empty washer, full pots and pans cycle, In hopes of salvaging our 23 yr old dishwasher.... It's run in perfect health until a couple months ago, when it started leaving significant white film and grunge on everything. Fingers

My dishwasher is much newer, and hardly works at all. Half of the time it won't drain, and I think it's partly to do with hard water.

You may have a mineral buildup that's causing the white film. Apparently a 1/4cup of borax thrown in the bottom of the washer for a few cycles will help kill the buildup.

The vinegar didn't help. might have to try the borax, thanks. It came on quite suddenly, not a slow increase in spotting/ residue, which puzzles me a bit. Gotta remember to check the water line in, too.

I don't guess you've noticed any new smells, tastes or particles in your tap water? They may have changed their filtration/treatment process or source.

Our water is notoriously bad and changing in quality, but probably the clearest, odorless it's ever been, for about a year now.
