Aha! Thanks Alan - will have to investigate mini series. There should be a wanrning of some kind, esp for those who LOVED the original and are quite loyal to it, what with Lorne Greene and Drik Benedict as Starbuck (my firt crush, or was it, more disappointingly, John Schneider in Dukes of Hazzard? Or, Shaun Cassidy - well...). Where's Boxy ( Read more... )

i watched the original series, but woz never very impressed except for the cyclons themselves (especially 'the noise'), the Egyptianess 'n' the (er) Viper Fighters...and one or two individual episodes.
'owever all of the glowing reviews 'ave convinced me ter start on the noo series. i only found out about the mini-series by reading reviews of the first series box set all of whom said somefing like; 'er wot the fuck is going on?'. if yew arsk me they should 'ave included the mini-series in the box set!

will get around ter actually watching it when i've (also' er') read the noo 'arry potter, re-read all the terry pratchetts 'n' watched the first two series of the noo doctor 'oo i bought larst week...then there's...

You need to watch BG, and if you don't I will do something particularly unpleasant to you. It is easily the bestest thing on television, and everyone who disagrees with me is clearly wrong :-) I've got the miniseries and the first two series on DVD and will get the third series as soon as possible. I'll lend them to you in return for some Firefly ...

YOU loaned me Firefly, which of course I watched all of and became addicted to by the end of the one and only series. Oh well. Anyway, do you even remember the original. Of course it was shite, but it had a robot dog and lots of Egyptian stuff and Dirk Benedict and everything. It is actually amazing how similar a Starbuck the girl is in this one though - really similar characters. Weird. And also good. Need miniseries. I think I borrowed the series one from you, so I am wondering why I didn't take the miniseries. Anyhoo.

being a genre TV fan costs an awful lot... alan1957 August 5 2007, 18:47:14 UTC
i 'ave finally gotten around ter watching the Battlestar Galactica pilot. t'woz rather good. although i nearly got cross at the old 'ollywood stand-by of the english actor being the nazi/roman emperor/serial killer/coward/traitor gaius balthar character...until i watched the extras bit that showed that apollo woz also english (indeed both of 'em are londoners)!

now all i've gotta do is get the dosh tergether (£78.95) ter buy the rest.

incidentally, is three series the lot...or is there more ter come?

p.s. i don't 'ave a Battlestar Galactica userpic yet so yew'll 'ave'ter do wiv anuvver clarss yank TV show.
