I love these origin stories too. My own is not that unlike Chris's except it involved me (at age 17!) confusing Bob Shaw - noted deceased Irish sf author - with Fake BobShaw - notoriously sleazy Glasgow conrunning fan and part time orgy organiser :-)

Man, I would have loved to have been at that BSFA meeting. I should organize my next trip to London around who's speaking there. That and attending a meeting of the Royal Society.

There was a list, but it's out of date.

They had flyers out for next month, but I didn't take one.
