The really interesting thing is, the phrase 'politically correct" was originally a joke, a way for us garden variety Dirty Hippies to take the mickey out of our more earnest, Maoist brethren, like saying "I'm sorry, but is that the politically correct wheatstraw you just rolled that doob with? Har har har."

It's journey from cheeky, goodnatured rib to the monstrosity it is today is a sight to behold.
