Sadly, I get the same reaction from the new staff coming in on short-term contracts. I've gotten blank looks for everything from the Wonder Twins to the Thundercats. I really felt my age when I made an Emma Peel reference, and when I explained that she was in The Avengers, I got:

"Oh! That's going to be awesome! I can't wait for the movie to come out. Is she the chick that gets on with Thor?"

*heavy sigh*

When you're done with that cane, may I borrow it? I have a few people I want to shake it at.

In karate class once I told the girl I was practicing with to do a move "like Daniel does the wax-on, wax-off."

She said, "That movie was made before I was born."

So I kicked her.

As well you should have. I find the attitude of "It happened before I was born so it's ancient and unimportant/irrelevant" so incredibly aggravating. Bloody willful ignorance.

I work with a couple of people whose *parents* are younger than I am. That's depressing.

I remember the Wonder Twins! Depressingly, my husband does not. A shame, because I'm sure we could come up with some hilarious combinations.

Oh well, at least he loves Queen as much as I do.
