I was curious about what the deal was with Second Life, so I downloaded it the other day. I started setting up my avatar, and then the next day, the server crashed. They say it's back up, but when I try to log in, it says my account has been disabled and I need to contact them. My question is -- is it worth it? I mostly got on because it was ( Read more... )

Unfortunately, the only way for us to have nice finished-wood doors is going to be to strip them entirely, and then refinish them. Probably way too much work to put into a rental property. I agree that I can't think what color other than white to paint them, though ... ah well.

I've got an account on SL, and I do agree that while it is entertaining, it's really nothing mind-blowingly awesome. Not to me, at least.

Oh, I'm sure that there's lead paint under all kinds of things in this apartment, like on the fireplace I've been stripping. The main thing is to avoid putting lead paint dust into the air where you can breathe it (as happens if you sand) -- I've been using a gel stripper, scraping off the softened paint, and wearing gloves, and I think I've had minimal exposure this way.
