I find your posings very thought-provoking. Hence, yes, I am real to you, ironic as that is. Quite bizarre how things have come somewhat full-circle, non? But there is a real quality about what goes on in cyberdom that those who have experienced it cannot deny.
I also started out just to have fun; and I very quickly realized that relationships here, even "imaginary", are every bit as "real" as those we see in flesh and blood. It was this paradox that induced me to perpetuate the lie, my grand secret, for almost three years. My deception was shameful. People were hurt. But I also believe that if I had not distanced myself (and had time to do so) from people I had been deceiving, more people would have been hurt, and far more deeply. And my only excuse is that I really had no idea just how "real" cyberdom is.
