Thought: BSG is funny. It just doesn't get enough credit for humour - possibly because the humour is on the dry, British side, and it's often black.

LOL, I love the picspams. Though she's a tad hard on Lee, I feel. Yeah, JB fails at shouting: I defy anyone to yell convincingly in a accent not their own. Poor guy, that's when he really slips. Having James Callis around doesn't help either... and I notice accent-slippage too in Crossroads, when it's Three Little Brits. Even if Romo does speak with a faux-Irish accent for some reason known only to the actor!

RE harsh story: could you be thinking of 'Too High A Cost'? It is quite harsh on Laura, but - as in the series - she manages to remain sympathetic throughout. That's a special skill.

Hmmm... you know, we could probably set up our own comm for no-holds-barred discussion of fic/episodes?

Goodness. I wish I could make sense of the Cylon stuff between BSG and Caprica. I'm having an incredibly difficult time parsing it all together into something that makes some kind of semi-logical sense

Fun times! I'm currently doing a rewatch with a friend who hasn't seen it before, and it's interesting seeing how I react differently. I'm actually less focused on A/R, surprisingly.

The Kara poof never bothered me much, but their poor resolution of the dying leader and the opera house bugs me more and more the more I think about it. Cavil is hilarious.

Funny you say that. I've found on subsequent viewings I've been less focused on A/R too. It still makes me squee, but I keep finding other things to squee about too. :)

Who ever said that MM had plastic surgery?

Can anyone provide a surgeon's name? When she had anything done? When was she in the hospital or at home recovering? And when has she talked about it?

Just wondering. Maybe botox possible (a lot of actresses do that), but has she ever talked about that, either?

I'm just wondering why people think MM had plastic surgery.

To be fair, it probably is just botox/fillers. It's pretty obvious that she had SOMETHING done between Crossroads and the beginning of S4, and it becomes obvious again in 'Daybreak' during the supposed young-Laura scenes. You notice it particularly if you go straight to the first ep of S4 from S3. 'Plastic surgery' was a convenient shorthand, but as you point out, it's probably not accurate.

I was going to ask about that actually. As the thing that made me like Mary best was her wrinkles. The thought of her having plastic surgery makes me very sad. I've gone from end of season 3 to 4 before and never noticed a difference.

I heard somewhere that she had an issue with the way they were lighting her earlier in the series and asked them to change as she thought in HD it showed off too many of her wrinkles.

I'm guessing maybe she had botox or lots of makeup or something to make her appear younger in the daybreak flashbacks. Though I think part of that was also the hair that made her look so different as we'd gotten used to the wig or the scarf and all the Very Ill makeup by that point.

At the very least, she had something done to her mouth - if you go to her imdb page and compare the photo of her from the opera house scenes to any random s4 scene - you can see that her lips are definitely plumper AND the top line is different in the S4 stuff. It's subtle, but it's there. That's a good one for comparison because of the straight hair in both
