They could send a small film unit over to NZ, or catch the actors as they return to the UK (as they often do between filming batches for "The Hobbit"). As for other actors, they've already had Richard Richard Hurndall as a stand-in for the First Doctor in "The Five Doctors", so it's fine to have others. I saw a photo the other day that named someone else as the First Doctor...there were Daleks involved and an implication that it was for a doco. The exciting thing about stand-ins...it hit me a bit over a year ago that if they're going to make a 50th anniversary story with _all_ the Doctors then their only problem will be Tom Baker. The more recent ones can pass with a bit of makeup, possibly a wig (and maybe a belt around their waistline, a la William Shatner). How do they get great actors who also look just like Patrick Troughton and Jon Pertwee? Answer: hire their sons, David Troughton Sean Pertwee. Now, that would be a tribute worth seeing.
Also, I'd not noticed the thing about paintings since the business to do with Vincent, so fa for the heads-up; I'll keep my eyes open. Did you know that nearly every story this season (including the first half of the season, last year) has mentioned music, songs, or refers to famous composers. Sometimes it's a throwaway remark, but it might be getting more overt. Last week, they went the Full Julie Andrews. This week: references to songs as a form of oral history for that race, not to mention hungry like a (bad) wolf.
