Adam?

[private to Peter]

I need to see you.

[private to Kahlan]

How could you do that to me?

[ooc: For the folks on Level 0, Elle threw a bit of a hissy fit when confession wore off. There was some clanging of bars and throwing things. Maybe an angry shriek or two.]

I'm busy right now, Elle.

[Elle breathed a little easier when he said it back. She didn't want him to be mad at her, she didn't even want him to leave when he was done changing her bandages. But she was used to people being too busy to spend time with her, and she wasn't really keen on having a "conversation," and a pretty serious one from the sound of it.]

"Okay."

[She couldn't help what she said next - she didn't want to spend however long in this awful claustrophobic place knowing that he was angry with her.]

"It was all West's idea. He conscripted me. And I made them promise not to do anything to you. You know... if we won."

[Peter fought very, very hard not to roll his eyes at that. Not at all because he didn't believe her but because he'd just told her that he didn't want to have this conversation right now.]

"I don't... even know what to say to that."

[He finished taping the fresh piece of gauze to her side and ran his fingers through his hair.]

"No wait, I do. I don't care whose idea it was. You didn't have to listen."

"I hate it here. I want to go home. I thought if West was in charge, I could."

[Elle wasn't sorry for being involved in the riot, and if the opportunity ever came up she'd do it again. This place was hell, most of the people in it were horrible, and she was willing to do anything to get out.

Her desire to escape was always the thing that seemed to start big fights between her and Peter. It just made her hate the barge more.]

"Please don't be mad."

[Peter decided not to point out the fact that if she went home, he wouldn't be there. Because that would be talking about it and three minutes of conversation didn't change the fact that he had people in the Infirmary to watch and maybe he'd be able to get some sleep in the near future but he doubted it.]

"We can talk about it more later. I should probably go back."

"Don't."

[Elle almost reached out to grab him, but instead shrunk in on herself. She wasn't used to Peter behaving like this, and being passed over for more important things immediately reminded her of her father, and the fact that she shouldn't bother important busy people. Whether that comparison was fair or not to Peter didn't really cross her mind.

She grabbed her shirt and pulled it back on, hissing in pain when she stretched out the wound.]

"Sorry for taking up your time," [she said sullenly, folding herself into a sitting position on her cot.]

[She was better at this guilt thing then she had any right to be. Or he was just more susceptible to it because he loved her. He wondered if he got any points for recognizing that he was a little weak when it came to her.]

"My head hurts, Elle. And I have practically a dozen people to be watching in the Infirmary because dying really sucks a lot more then it used to here. So can we not do this right now? I love you. We'll talk when you get out of here."

"I don't think I can stand being locked up and having you mad at me. Being in a cell is awful and not getting to see you for days is awful and it's worse when you don't want to talk to me."

[Elle didn't bother to move from her position on the cot, didn't even look at him.]

"And I don't want to spend a week in a cell waiting for..." [When her father was mad at her, he locked her up or lectured her, said things it almost killed her to hear. She didn't know what Peter would do but she probably wouldn't like it.]

[Peter slid his fingers through his hair a couple times before sighing. While she didn't look at him, he didn't look anywhere else but at her, waiting for her to do the same.]

"Waiting for what? I'm not going to yell at you. I just don't want to talk about it right now."

[Elle finally did look at him, her brows wrinkling as she frowned.]

"Come here?"

[She crooked a finger at him and turned the frown into a pout.]

"Don't pout, it's not flattering."

[Though his chide lacked any kind of bite behind it, he didn't move to join her because he knew what would happen if he did.]

"And it's not going to get you anything."

[Elle immediately stopped pouting, shifting her weight back further onto the cot and hugging her knees tighter to her chest.]

"I'm sorry."

[It was a last-ditch effort, and she didn't even know what she was apologizing for, but she hated him being so cold to her.]

"I know."

[Peter didn't say anything for a long moment.]

"But that doesn't fix everything."

"Peter..."

[Elle looked at him forlornly. She didn't know what to fix, just that she had to do something if he was going to be like this.]

"I'll fix it. I'll make everything better."

[Peter nodded a little bit. He believed that she'd try and that was half of the battle.]

"We can talk about it when you get out of here."

[Maybe if he kept repeating it enough, she'd accept that he really didn't want to talk about it right now.]

"Sure. Alright, Peter."

[Maybe he'd be less mad if she agreed with everything he said. Elle didn't want him to walk out on her, but if he left slightly less mad that would be better than nothing.]
