A weekend away

Jul 03, 2005 21:18

K & I went to the Unconvention this weekend. As a sort of compromise (he's certainly not what one would call a hardcore BC-er) we went up Friday to go shopping and swan around Birmingham and meet some friends, then to the Unconvention on Saturday. It was good :)

Birmingham: It's not shit )

Sounds like a really nice weekend. In case you didn't get my message on the forum, I have the T-shirts because James was heading off somewhere that isn't York.

Um, two of yours, one of K's and someone else's (possibly, I can't actually remember) and Jess's. I sen her an email and when she sends me her address I'll post it to her.

sounds like you had a good time. I must go next year.

Maybe you could time a visit to our fair shores next year to coincide with this? Just a thought.

A thong saying "cockpit" eh? Classy. A male thong, I presume?

Oh, BTW: the best stained glass is in Saint Chapelle in Paris (http://images.google.co.uk/images?svnum=10&hl=en&lr=&q=saint+chapelle) - end of story. To end on a more 'sacred' note.

I could certainly try!

No, women's (just when you thought it couldn't get any worse).

Ooh, shiny. :)

Which cathedral did you find yourselves in? (There is more than one in Birmingham, and St Martin's, which should be the C of E cathedral rather than St Philip's, which is the C of E cathedral.)

And the Bullring is very chain-shoppy. You need to head away from it to find shops with more character!

That's a good question. Um. *rummages to find leaflet in tip which is desk* St. Phillips, although they really don't make that obvious.

Does Birmingham have two bishops then?

It is, isn't it? I only went for the H&M :)

St Chad's is the RC cathedral. St Philip's has been a cathedral for only 100 years or so - it was formerly a church, but when Birmingham became a city in the late 1880s it seems that someone somewhere thought the new city should be given a bishopric too.
