Not a "smartphone", but I can [and occasionally do] check email, often send and receive photos and texts. So if I'm useful, use me.

If I HAD a smartphone, though, I'd be on it a LOT. *G*

I have an iPhone, and I sometimes check twitter/tumblr/LJ/gmail, but not a lot, I prefer my laptop for internet.

I have an android phone. It connects really well with my gmail account and it has a pretty good facebook app. I don't use Twitter much in general. But I'm constantly reading my LJ flist on my phone. xD

iPhone for the win!

Interesting topic! :D But... maybe it was something else, but I somehow feel like I've read somewhere about this whole information overload not being true? Maybe it was different... or maybe I'm confused about what you want to talk about. Do you want to show that there is no information overload or?

I'm still working on what it is I want to look into. But yeah people have said in recent years that the information overload is over and done with. It isn't overloading any more, we are getting better at sorting out the information we need and want. But what I'm suggesting is a possible new overload that's excelling at rapid speed with the increasing use of smartphones where people are constantly connected. It's not that there's too much of information, it's more that it's constantly there and in your face.

Also another thing I'm interested in is the change in what kind of information it is. It seems to me that it's changing to become a lot more personal. We are putting our personal information online and we are reading and seeing out other peoples personal information, like with Twitter and Facebook. I believe that the majority of time people spend online is spent on social networks.

And so yeah, I hope that cleared it up a bit.

My phone isn't a smartphone but I can go on the internet on it and visit sites that have mobile access.

maybe I need to do some research on what makes a phone a smartphone. Maybe I'll need to broaden the term to any hand held gadget that you can connect to the internet while driving your car or something.
