There are demons back home, man. And they all have different elemental affinities. Some of them are immune to physical damage completely. You could wail on them all day and not do a thing. And a lot are resilient to it. [He should know about the former - he was like that himself at one point.]

I was locked up and beat around enough before when I was there because I couldn't defend myself. What if some of them show up here?
