Snowing!

Dec 30, 2006 13:00

Well, sort-of at least.

There is a mix of sleet and snow falling outside of our home at this moment.

We've heard reports from "up north" that it's worse in that direction. Which is nice to hear, as shortly ahf and I head to Bath for a New Year's Weekend getaway ( Read more... )

I'm glad to hear you're going to get some away time for recovery. We'll miss you, of course, and wish you a great New Year.

Whee!

We got snow here too, to everyone's surprise... we were supposed to get chance-of-flurries tonight, but the big snowstorm that came through Denver (again) was supposed to miss us. I don't know if we caught a fringe of it or what, but the forecast went from "possible light rain in the morning" last night to, over the space of an hour, "flurries this morning," "up to half an inch," "possible one to two inches." I'm not sure how much we actually got, since it was so warm a lot of it melted, but almost an inch stuck. It won't be around long, warm as the ground is, but it's good snowball snow.

It should make tonight interesting, since it's now supposed to get well below freezing (and wasn't, before), so we should get a nice melt-n-freeze, just what you need on New Year's Eve.

It turned into "real snow" before we left. ahf even got what we hope are some nice pictures. I'll post one when we get back if so.

Up here in Bath, Maine, there's about 3 inches of snow. We just got back from taking a drive out Five Island Road and taking a bunch of pictures at the state park almost at the end.

I suppose I should check what the weather will be in back in Massachusetts tomorrow, as we'll have to deal with that.

And any sort of inclement weather is not a good thing to add to the New Year's Eve mix of things.

Happy New Year.

By the time the temperature got cold enough to freeze, the roads were dry, and as far as I know we didn't get anything more. Apparently everybody in town survived.

So did some of the snow, though it probably won't last the day. It's nice and sunny here, which I see on NWS is not gonna be the case for your trip. Be careful out there.

Yep, there's a bit of rain out there now. The staff says it's not freezing (anymore) but we'll be on our way soon anyway. And yes, we'll be careful.
