I feel like screaming and crying yet feel so numb

According to the scheduling manager, I was never supposed to get overnight pay because I was only doing it temporarily (I've been working that shift for well over a month now) and that soon I wouldn't have that shift at all. She also posted the schedule for the next 2 weeks and I have only 32 and 24 hours respectively. Plus I work overnight half ( Read more... )

screw everything, help, my life is a mess, i need a hug, just feel numb, rant, pathetic, money is an issue, screw you, managers may be evil, pay me my due, paycheck, fuck, job, mcdonalds, worried, emotions hurt, feel like screaming, sleep where are you?, rambles, work work work, what do you think?, feel like crying

I don't know if this will make you feel better or worse, but on the Wall Street Journal-less Report (radio show) this morning, they quoted a study that 1 out of 5 men and 1 out of 7 women lie and take a sick day to interview for a new job.

With the shit they're pulling, I don't think you're under any obligations to be honest about a 24-hour flu if your sister lines something up.

I am sorry you are having such a hard time at McDonald's. I worked for them while going to college, but we have much better labor laws in my state. But at the same time, it doesn't surprise me that they are pulling this nonsense, because they sure stretched the law here back then. Is there a manager above this one you can talk to about the pay issue? You've gone beyond temporary overnight worker. Or will that just make things worse?

I've given up trying to talk to anyone there. My sister has offered herself to find me a job. Since she's homeschooling her kids she has more time and knows how to do it better than I do.

But thank you for the advice.

:( I'm sorry things are so crappy right now. I find it crazy that there are states where employees don't legally have to have breaks also how the hell is it legal that you don't get paid for overnight work when you're working overnight, it shouldn't matter if you do it regularly or not. That's how it is with my job now, least that's how it was explained to me. I have a temporary job with Target working overnight and therefore am entitled to overnight pay even though it isn't a permanent position. Anyway, I hope things get better for you soon. Maybe you can find something better as summer approaches.

I don't understand it at all. All other jobs I've had in Florida have insisted on breaks halfway through the shift but this McDonalds will often not give anyone breaks. And according to management only permanent overnighters get the pay.....which they never told me that I was temporary or that I wasn't getting the extra 40 cents. Which they all knew was the big reason I begged for that shift.

My sister has started looking for a new job for me. My family has told me to focus on working and they'll find me a better job that is less stressful and gives me the same shift every week.

Once you have something new and there's no way you will ever go back to that McDonald's, call the state labor department and turn them in. My Spidey-senses are tingling that they are crossing the line even with Florida's crappy worker protection laws.

And even if they are just towing the line, an inspection will probably scare the gold right off the arches.

it's good your family is helping you out. Yeah, working at Target isn't too bad, at least as far as retail goes but I do wish that they'd give me more hours, I've been working 8-12 hours a week since I started 3-4 weeks ago and when I applied I said I wanted at least 20 :/
