Ah, June is upon us. Summer blockbuster season is in full swing, I have designs on seeing Snow White & The Huntsman either later today or tomorrow, and I still have MIB3 to see as well. Of course, over the past week I have taken my in-theater viewing count for The Avengers to five - not yet a record for me, I need to see it one more time for that

I have this strange relationship with Thoth-- when i was very little, I saw some headdresses in his image and became both terrified of and captivated by him.

Don't forget his name is the origin of the word thaumaturgy, another link to alchemy.

....really, thaumaturgy? I hadn't come across anything that connected it specifically to Thoth, aside from the whole "Western alchemy started in ancient Egypt" thing. Fascinating.

I could be wrong-- I'm working from a VERY old childhood memory from attending a daylong kids camp* on ancient civilizations in the British Museum. 25+ years could warp my memory, but I remember, the word prefix "Thau"comes from Greek meaning "magic", which was taken from the Egyptian name "Thoth".
