Update on Ramses...

His tests came back and the kidneys are more elevated.

My vet is going to prescribe him a kidney friendly diet for now. She says he doesn’t need fluids or medicine.

This sucks.

i've probably already told you this, but when ziggy died from cancer, her kidney levels were NORMAL. that was maybe 2 years after being diagnosed with kidney disease. and it was because she was on a special diet. she went from having elevated levels to being near normal.

i think it's totally possible for kitties to live a nearly normal life span with kidney disease.

so at least that's something. but i know how sad and stressful it feels.
xox.

What diet was she on?

I'm trying to think positive about all this.

i believe it was hill's k/d wet and dry food.

the difficult part was keeping her eating separate from the other kitties and making sure she didn't eat their food.

i think k/d is just really low in protein? i think protein is hard on their kidneys when they have kidney disease.

i would buy the food by the case, and for every 10 i bought i got a case free, from my vet.

good luck and seriously keep your hopes up. i think in most cases it's manageable. just takes a little extra tlc.

He seems to like the hill's k/d wet and dry, and so does Kiki.

It's been pretty rough trying to keep them separated. I put him in the bathroom and the other 3 eat in the kitchen.

I'm also trying to feed them together and just monitor them, so he doesn't feel left out. He can get kind of sensitive.

Thanks for your comment... it means a lot.
