Books of April!

Lots more good books this month -- things are looking up! Also, I can't believe it's the end of April already. My days at work are slow, but whole months seem to fly by. It's clearly some kind of paradox...

This way to the book reviews )

I read Tale of Sand recently too. I guess the thing to keep in mind is that was originally intended to be a film...and he did some really weird stuff with film :p I remember being shocked the first time I saw one of his arty experimental pieces (like...wtf IS this?!?!).

OH! I wonder if I heard about the book from you -- did you post about reading a biography of Jim Henson and how much it moved you?

I don't remember if it was here on LJ or on Good Reads or both -- that's the problem with reading so many book posts in both places (*and* following various book blogs).

Haha guilty as charged - but the biography was wonderful (Tale of Sand was much less wonderful, haha). I feel bad for not liking his arty/avant garde stuff and much preferring what he came up with for children...but yeah. :p

I liked Oryx and Crake and the two sequels. All three of them were a little slow to start but ended up being absorbing. She is such a gifted writer - essays, poetry, speculative fiction, and more

Ah, bummer about "French Milk". I had a feeling if it was as good as "Relish", people would be talking about it as much as they talk about "Relish". Probably won't read it with your reviews...

So glad you had some good reading in April! I have discovered that an iPad = a license to read trash and am feeling very un-literary and somewhat ashamed of myself. I blame it all on too much work killing my brain cells. ;)
