To solve my writing woe (self-indulgent OHNOES! crap, don't worry), I wrote fic. Yay, me? It's a little angstier than usual which was interesting for me to write. See what you think.
No, he thinks, curling closer to Tim and tucking the comforter around himself, start is too small a word--it's a beginning.
Awwwwwww!!!! I want to snuggle this fic.
I wish we could have seen Tony's face when Saleem put the knife against Ziva's neck, just to compare. He did reacted more violently when McGee was threatened. And used the talking trick of diversion for both.
And now I have a strange mental image of you wrapped up in printouts. :D
It's creaky! And it goes well with my daydream of the last day where Gibbs is worried because Tony and McGee were fighting and they decided to deal with it and no one saw them for hours. So he goes to Tony's, let himself in, and find a giant pillow fort all over the living room, and he has to crawl inside to find the middle, where Tony, McGee and Jethro are sleeping all over each other, a empty pizza box and a movie still ongoing on the laptop nearby.
I still don't know if they lied to have a few hours off or if it's their way to deal with their problems, but Gibbs took a lot of photos and send them to Abby for future blackmail purpose.
My tinhat says Tony was way more scared at losing Tim than Ziva.
And the best part is that it's 75% possible Michael Weatherly wanted it like that.
I don't think I've ever commented before being a very dedicated lurker and all, but this is so perfect I just have to comment.
"Yeah," says Tony. "A lot. And I mean the whole sticking around thing, if that's okay with you? I mean, it was my moment of clarity, you could be pity-kissing me for all I know." "I'm not a cheesy coming-of-age comedy," Tim says, running his hand up Tony's arm until it curves against his neck. "It's okay with me. I'd- Well, let's just say I'd ruled it out, but ruling it back in works for me. Or can you do that? Rule something in? Shouldn't I just erase the original rule out? Or would that-" "Shut up, Probie," says Tony, and kisses him again.
This is the best talking about our feelings/getting together conversation between those two that I've ever read. Understated and heartfelt, but non-schmoopy. Tony's insecurity is lurking out, but not turning him into a big crybaby who openly declares his undying love for Tim. And Tim's rambling answer sounds like a perfect McGee voice to me. Love it.
Hello and welcome! I've said before how I consider it a special privilege to cause a lurker to delurk, even for just a moment, because it always means I've done something really right, so thank you very much. :D It can be hard to get those kind of moments to work well, and I think actually saying 'I love you' is fine given the right circumstances, but I entirely agree that it can be done in a very out of character way which can be very off-putting. It's something I'm always aware of when writing, that's for sure.

Completely agree. 'I love you' can be just the right thing if done well and can convey so much more emotion than a drawn-out spilling of the guts without any regards to a character's inherent reticence when discussing feelings, so that from then on the couple will never have problems again, because their relationship is based on honesty and never ever keeping any emotions or thoughts to themselves, also suddenly being completely comfortable with discussing said emotions ad nauseam. (Sorry, that got a bit snarky. Drawn out saccharine monologues about emotions get my hackles up ;))
What I wanted to say is that in any of your fics I've read (and which I've not commented on *hides*), I have never even seen signs of any character butchering like that, so congratulations on successfully walking that line and thank you for all the entertainment. :)
So, one of the first things I do when I get re-inspired with Tony and Tim is stalk your NCIS tags. (I'd like to blame you for why I'm averaging about one story a year for them, but alas, I'm just a squirrel on crack. *sigh*) And I found this one, which I'd forgotten about, though I'm not sure how because I love it so much. It's just so perfect, and my original comment is just completely crappy at getting that across. I can feel everything Tony's going through here, that terrible, splitting headache, that fear that he's pushing down so hard, his almost hysterical acceptance of his revelation. And that moment when he calls Tim--it's just so vivid, something I feel like I've experienced myself in those make-or-break moments.
Waking up to this in my inbox was definitely one of the best ways to start a Friday of a looooooooooooong week. Thank you! *hugs* I'm so thrilled that it's so visceral for you--it was for me when I was writing it (I even gave myself a headache, heh)--so to know that translates is fantastic. I was thinking about you last night, actually, and wondering why I haven't got around to putting your Tim/Tony on my iPod for portable reading purposes. It's now very high on my to-do list. :D
