wait, litterboxes and scoops are expensive? i guess the litter is, over time.
however, you have to walk a dog outside (or at least let it outside) -- particularly in the city, a yard is not cheap... nor, necessarily, is your time when you have to take time to walk the dog(s).
Kitties purr for life. You could put this that owners of cats have developed a means to keep a cat trapped indoors so we do not have to be bothered by them other than to put out mass quantities of food and water. We are so selfish. :-)
I vastly prefer cleaning a tiny litterbox to tromping around my yard, hunting for piles of dog shit that have fused with the grass and weeds. My family's dog is smart; she goes on one side of the yard.... But it's a big area, and cleaning up takes quite some time and effort.
Cat shit stinks like hell, but you generally find it all in one place. Scoop, double-bag, trash or flush, hose down the box, add new litter, replace. Ahhh. Lovely, sweet, clean, clever, manageable cats. (When I have a choice, I will NEVER live with another dog.)
Because they're outside cats. We live in a small village and there's a park right across our house. They wanna go outside, fine by us, less cleaning for the litterbox. XD
