And yes, it's so hard to clearly define black and white, good and evil, and Gabriel has a lot of trouble with that because of his mercy.
No. :/ I think you'll love the Lucifer comics, especially when it explores why Lucifer Fell. (Have you read the graphic novel version of Murder Mysteries?) But yeah, I do see Lucifer as a tragic if proud figure, and Gabriel is just too basically nice to cope effectively with all the new THE ANGELS YOU LOVED AND TRAINED ALONGSIDE WITH ARE NOW EVIL, YOU MUST SMITE THEM stuff.
Oh, I won't delete it for that reason, but I do plan to rewrite it one day and post the rewrite separately.
Well, Gabriel IS the Angel of Mercy, which is why I was so annoyed that movies like Legion and comics like Hellblazer and even Lucifer have him as a self-righteous prick. (But then Lucifer had Michael and Lucifer being awesome, so i suppose they needed one Archangel who was a dickhead and it's set in the same universe as Sandman, which in turn is the same universe as Hellblazer, where Gabriel is a dick and ultimately killed, so they probably had little choice. :/ )
Murder Mysteries is simply a graphic novel version of Gaiman's short story Murder Mysteries, from his anthology Smoke and Mirrors. I can e-mail it to you. :D
