Contact Lens. Fail.

Well, it seems that I have a corneal abrasion, assumedly from doing something improper in relation to my contact lens. It's not a bad case of it, I guess, as it's not really painful. It just kind of constantly feels like something is in my eye. Looking into a magnifying mirror last night I saw what I can best describe as what a car windshield ( Read more... )

I had the same problem about 3 years ago. I wore gas permeable lenses from morning to bedtime non-stop for about 20 years. It culminated when I tried to get a pair of new lenses and they kept irritating me, then I could not even see well. My eye doctor not only told me I had some major abrasions, but my cornea's had slightly flattened because of my contact lens usage. For almost 5 months, my vision was like looking out of a dirty window and had a terrible case of halo vision.

I am forbidden to ever wear gas permeable lenses again and can only wear soft now and then. Be careful and make sure your eyes are completely healed. Vanity isn't worth messing up your eyes permanently.

My situation is definitely completely vanity, so I'm thinking the same thing you said. I really doubt I'll go back to wearing the contact after this.

It was vanity for me as well. I've been wearing glasses since I was 3. But after this, I've thought twice about wearing contacts again. I can wear the soft, but not every day. I still can't see very well at night and my starburst and halo vision has gotten better but not like it was before this happened.

The good thing is, these days it's cooler to wear glasses, so it's not so bad.

That sucks. I say, though, that once you heal, try again. I could not live without my contacts. Literally.
