OK, without boring everyone with too many intimate details of my medical sagas, I saw a second doctor who was a neuro-otologist the next day. I have tinnitus too. I've had it for almost 3 years. When I first got it, my doctor sent me to an ear specialist, where I had tests, and MRI's blah blah blah. I wound up just not going back to the specialist. He never gave me a clue or answer as to what could help me, so I decided to keep my copays and just deal with it.

I hope you get better and hopefully you won't get the vertigo.

I'm so sorry, Amy. My Mom has had tinnitus for a year now and at the beginning it was a very difficult time.

Hearing devices can be helpful because you'll be more aware of the outside's sounds rather than on your ringing.
There are CDs of 'white' sounds -like waterfalls, ocean waves and others- for masking or cover up the tinnitus.
It's a matter of disguise your 'cricket' or ringing and keep your focus outside -not easy but not impossible either.

It's quite a change in life, be brave and patient.
I wish you the best with all my heart.

Well, while the fluctuation can't be good, at least it is treatable. I certainly hope you get better. The vertigo sounded horrible, so glad you don't have it.

Take care, Amy. Hugs to you.

OMG, I just realized this morning that my blog-updating site hasn't updated ANY feeds of the LJ blogs I read. I just thought everyone had stopped posting!

I hope your hearing gets better.
I am so behind on everything....
