The Doctor's pain is palpable in this, so bravo, my heart is aching now.

I also really like your dialogue, it is easy to follow without being bogged down with too much description.

One thing though. When Rose brings attention to the Doctor's homeless state, I thought, as he did, that this was a bit harsh. I just can't seem to see her being that deliberately cruel.

That point's actually addressed in the next chapter. Glad you liked the rest.

As the Brig says, jolly good show. Perfect characterisation here - I like the juxtaposition of the little flashes of humour (the sherry and the pot plant) with the emotion. Looking forward to the last chapter.

Enjoying this greatly. One nit to pick: "They’d had a very enjoyable few minutes taking a shower" - this sounds as if Rose and Jack showered together. If that's not what you meant, you may wish to clarify. If it is what you meant, I'm surprised the Doctor didn't more of an issue of it ...

Well, the TARDIS is a big place and the Doctor's quite self-obsessed at that point. I don't think he'd want to interfere. I think a little sexual ambiguity goes a long way when you're writing about Jack!

*gobsmacked* Did the Doctor just admit to making a mistake? And you made it be completely IC? Incredible!!!

I love how his friends are handling the Doctor there, sternly but lovingly, to get him back on track. :)

Yes, he needs a bit of tough love from time to time - though Rose in the next chapter does begin to wonder if she's overdone it.
