Loved this chapter. It was almost uncomfortable to read the conversation between Jack and Martha because it's so harshly...true. He thinks he helps and in some ways he does- but he also ruins lives.

Great scene with Donna there although I'm scared for her now and also hopeful. Can't wait for the next chapter!

Scared and hopeful is about the right mix. Thanks for reading along.

Oh, wow. You make a lot of really compelling observations here--the Doctor's feelings about the choices he's made to Jack's rather uncharitable surmise about just why he mindwiped Donna. I think Jack still harbors a good deal of bitterness toward the Doctor for leaving him on the Gamestation, and I think you bring that out with great subtlety here.

And Donna...oh, Donna. I'm really looking forward to seeing where this goes!

Yes, Donna is in trouble and things may get a bit worse before they get better. Jack is jumping to rather bitter conclusions, agreed, but it's just hours after the events of JE and he's shattered, so let's cut the guy some slack.

Wow, this was absolutely gripping - the part at the end where Donna loses the plot was so vivid, fantastic writing.

Thank you very much. There is some stuff competition out there just now for Donna-loses-plot scenes, so that's a real compliment.

Never thought about Jack having feelings like that about the Doctor but it is understandable. He has seen a lot of what the Doctor has done and it's affects on people.
I do hope that the Doctor will get a chance to explain himself in regards to Donna before Jack lays into him.

I am really enjoying this. Can't wait for the next part.
Great job!

Yes, we're set up for something of a confrontation here and they're always interesting to write.

Ooh! I didn't expect to see more this soon :)

Jack's pretty bitter, isn't he? He's right on the ball with some of his guesses - for example, that Donna was mindwiped and what happened to Rose - but way off the mark with the others. To me, his assumption that Donna was mindwiped because she dared to disagree seems to go too far - not just that we know the Doctor wouldn't do it for that reason, but also that it seems to me that Jack wouldn't assume that either. I can see him being critical and not automatically looking for the good motive, but not going this far. Anyway. Still very compelling stuff.

And, oh, Donna! :( The Doctor needs to find her, and soon. But we have hope; Wilf has Jack's business card, and the Doctor's on his way to Torchwood.

Can't see this being resolved that easily, though, since you're saying six chapters in total...

With Jack's attitude, I think context is everything right now. He's very, very tired - it's still the evening after the events of JE, and also he's rough after a double VM jump. I think it's made pretty clear that it's not a comfortable way to travel. And of course, a bit of misunderstanding makes great drama.
