Spanking banned in Costa Rica

I am not a spanker but if I was I would not want someone telling me that I couldn't discipline my child the way I saw fit. Legislation in Costa Rica has just been passed barring parents from spanking their children. The bill outlaws all forms of physical or emotional punishment or mistreatment of children. Progressive? Oh man!! I wholeheartedly agree with you. No government should step in and tell parents how to discipline or raise their children - unless there is something going on that is just utterly wrong. Personally - I have no issues with spanking, and probably will spank my child. Heaven help us if we ever give that much discretion to our own government. Government mandated everything - here we come!
