This paper is split up into 2 parts - 1, which is a critical commentary on one of the two passages given (interaction between Duke Senior, First Lord and Amiens when they're talking about hunting a deer in As You Like It, or something from Volpone - the latter of which I haven't read ( Read more... )

Congratulations!! Hey, from what you've written that sounds awesome! I really liked The Roaring Girl, Moll's a cool character to write about. I hadn't thought of that bit about her and Laxton and the leakiness. What's your seminar tutor's name? We had a woman in our seminars last year training to be a seminar leader, and she was doing her PhD on leaky bodies, but I can't remember her name!! Bet it's her, she was really cool.
I reckon you're safe with that exam, good luck with Revs and Evs, I have Romanticism on Wednesday too, and I want to go back in time and slap Coleridge with a fish right now. :)

I really enjoyed The Roaring Girl, too. I'd love to see a production of it. I'll go and have a nosey at the National Theatre website at some point - that's usually pretty good for stuff. Went to see The Relapse (Vanbrugh) in Lower 6th and She Stoops To Conquer (Goldsmith) in Upper 6th - I did Congreve's Way of the World at A-Level.

My seminar tutor is Vicky Sparey. Sh'e fantastic - really enthusiastic, knows her stuff, gets us discussing stuff (and never ever forgot to do me coloured-paper handouts, unlike all the rest of them).

Good luck with the Romanticism exam! Why do you want to slap Coleridge with a fish???

We'll have to meet up when the exams are over!

Vicky, I think that was her name! She was awesome.

I want to slap Coleridge with a fish because his poetry was awesome, and his philosophy was COMPLETELY unintelligible. I have no idea what the primary and the secondary imagination are, STILL, and I doubt I ever will. Perhaps that's not reason enough to slap him with a fish, I hear you say. I don't care. I've always wanted to slap someone with a fish. :p

Ooh, American literature? Do you know which works you'll be covering yet?

Actually, when I think about it, 3 of my top 5 favorite books are written by British authors. ^_^
