Not that credible a geek: note he's wielding the 'saber with one hand: anyone knows that a true Jedi uses both hands. Obviously, he thinks Episodes I-III carry more weight than episodes IV-VI.

I wish I could find the reference for this, but in an interview, Lucas said he originally wanted the Light Saber to appear "heavy", and thus wanted the actors to use both hands.

Huh. I wonder why he'd want it to be heavy. It's effectively a controlled laser.
I've swung around steel blades, and I tend to alternate between an untrained European fencing stance, and a poorly-trained two-handed stance (from playing around with bokkens and katanas). Two-handed is better for overall control, for me, but one-handed allows for a more narrow target (when held as Obama is, not as Skywalker is above). Either have their applications, and there's something to be said for swords light and short enough to use one-handed, and with a long enough handle one can use it two-handed (as with some varieties longsword).
