Semi-Charmed Life (Third Eye Blind)
The door to the Bronze swings open, the music bubbling out. They enter, in various stages of excitement, anticipation, wariness, and exhaustion. They're an ill-assorted lot. Slightly nerdy red-head with a sweet, rueful smile. Bright-eyed overgrown puppy. Beauty queen with a gleam of intelligence. Tweedy librarian. Teacher who…well, there's an acronym for that. Perky blonde beauty in a slightly stained white dress. And Tall, Dark and Mysterious. Pulled by the infectious tune, they move into the crowd, but don't stray too far, strangely reluctant to be apart. I want something else…to get me through this semi-charmed kind of life.
Barbie Girl (Aqua)
What a year. Nodding her head to the beat, she thinks how she used to hate when summer came along. Rather be in school, like some kind of loser. Someone who people wrote in your yearbook "Have a nice summer." Ugh. But this year was different. Who'da thought mousy Willow Rosenberg would be part of stopping the end of the world? Yay, me! Chirping vocals chime in. I'm a Barbie Girl, In a Barbie World. Life in Plastic, It's Fantastic! "Oh, Xander, I love this song! Come on, let's dance!"
Song 2 (Blur)
I got my head done / When I was young / It's not my problem / It's not my - problem / WOOHOO!
Woohoo is right! What a night! Who knew it would end this way? Dateless Xander--rejected by the girl of his dreams and his own best friend. Now, dancing in a circle with said young women, a-a-and the most popular girl in the school. May Queen, right. Bitch Queen more like. Still, she did come through in the fight against the Big Bad, yeah? She's got some spirit to her. And I didn't do so bad myself. The Xan Man comes through! Punching the clown, that was the best. Maybe things are looking up!
Phenomenon (LL Cool J)
Baby girl was draped in Chanel / Seen her at the bar with anklets and toe rings / She can take a prince, turn him into a king. I was looking at her in the limelight, pearly whites…At last, summer! St. Croix with the folks. Get out of this crappy town and into a stunning bikini. What a year. May Queen, got it, but almost lost my face. Still, it's worth it. After all, it's not for me, but for the rest of the kids. They need someone to look up to. Speaking of, look at that dork Xander. My god, he can't even dance! And that floppy hair, and goofy grin! Oh, that's not a bad move. He does have kind of a nice body. And his eyes are kinda dreamy. Something like a phenomena. Mmhmm. Raise the arms up. Bright smile. Flirt a little, give the poor boy a thrill.
One Headlight (Wallflowers)
Well, well, quite a year. Buffy's going away for the summer, so the undead will have to ravage unchecked while she sits on the beach and shops at the mall. She's a very particular kind of slayer, that's certain. Not quite what I was trained for. Perhaps it's time the Council updated our methods. At least we haven't been entirely unsuccessful. Demons slain, the Master vanquished. Made an alliance with a vampire, and enlisted civilians. But if there's one aspect of this that I just can't tolerate…it's this infernal din. They call this music? It's just talking, and not even grammatical--surely it should be "something like a phenomeNON?" Mercifully, that's over. At least this next one's got guitar. Man, I ain't changed, but I know I ain't the same / But somewhere here in between the city walls of dyin' dreams / I think her death it must be killin' me. Hold on. This is halfway decent…I should enquire. Sounds a bit like Dylan. At any rate, the Prophecy was thwarted. Rather like waking up from my worst nightmare. Except, what is this new cacophany?
King Nothing (Metallica)
So, survived another one. Oh, yeah! Great song. Just what a techno-pagan should love. One thing about living here, living now. The music is woooonnnnnderful. And Rupert…wouldn't it be fun to unbutton him a bit? Everything seems like it's taken care of. Should she worry about Angel and Buffy dancing together? Oh, leave it. It's just one night. Have some fun. Careful what you wish / Careful what you say / Careful what you wish / You may regret it.
Crash Into Me (Dave Matthews)
Another cataclysm narrowly averted. Keeps life…or unlife…from getting dull. But he'd rather face a hundred end-of-days scenarios than try to dance to any of this. Nice to watch the women "rock out" though. The music slows suddenly, ethereal strumming. Buffy looks toward him, eyes bright. Comes closer, almost touching. Rueful smile. If I've gone overboard / Then I'm begging you to forgive me in my haste / When I'm holding you so girl close to me. He turns to face her. She moves into his arms. Tied up and twisted the way I'd like to be. For you, for me, come crash into me.
Do You Know What I Mean (Oasis)
Whew, that was one helluva sophomore year. Didn't think things could get weirder than Hemery, but shows you how much she knows. And now, slow dancing with Angel, pretending he's a normal guy for once. That she's a normal girl. That this dress, so sweet, so sexy, wasn't just brushing a dirty horrible puddle full of death-Whoa. No. Just listen to the music. Don't think. Just dance. Don't look back, 'cause you know what you might see…No one can give me the air that's mine to breathe. I met my maker, I made him cry. And on my shoulder, he asked me why. All my people right here, right now…
Tubthumping (Chumbawamba)
I get knocked down, but I get up again, you're never going to keep me down! Suddenly, they're all jumping, singing, and laughing. Together.

(if anyone has a good picture/art of them dancing at the Bronze...let me know!)
