Sports Night Pilot Ep: Fanvid

Jul 09, 2010 23:25

I'm calling it "New York, New York Renaissance" since this ep inspired me on my own NY Renaissance last summer, chronicled here somewhere. This was done for the sorkinverse  challenge, to do anything inspired by the show's pilot. I was so excited when I first saw this; I knew it was going to be a great show.

Very nice! I watched the whole series on DVD last year, and I loved it. (Well, except for the laugh track, which I found unusually intrusive and disconcerting.) This was a nice trip down memory lane.

Thanks! Yeah, that laugh track was a huge bone of contention between Sorkin (who did not want) and either the network or production company, I forget which. They did away with it in Season two and three.

Appreciate your viewing and commenting!

That's really great - I enjoyed it a lot. You managed to encapsulate the whole essence of the episode just into that one not-quite-four-minute track, which is quite an achievement. And you got some of my favourite I'm-a-fan-so-I-can-mock bits in: Dan putting down obviously empty paper cups for himself and Casey, faux-Dave, faux-Natalie, real Natalie's awful cardigan, Dan's chopped liver look ...

Thank you! Funny, I never noticed faux-Natalie until I did this, and also your mention in the recap. Hah chopped liver. He looks good anyway.
