This was fun--to do some kind of social media piece with our favorite fandom characters. I chose a gossip/interview blog using the ever-popular Proust Questionnaire.

Today we’re here at the famed 221B Baker Street to find out all we can from an absolutely dynamic trio who’ve been involved in some of our most notorious criminal cases. So off we go!

First up, Sherlock Holmes. Sherlock, it’s an absolute thrill to meet you, the world’s most famous sleuth. [“Ahem, I prefer ‘consulting detective.’”] Let’s get on with the questions!

What is your idea of perfect happiness? Spending hours in my mind palace. With tea waiting when I emerge.
What is your greatest fear? Fear is an unnecessary distraction.
Which historical figure do you most identify with? A remarkable man, Dr. Joseph Bell. He could determine so much truth from so little fact. Deduction at its finest.
Which living person do you most admire? Best I not go on record with this. Suffice to say there have been members of the criminal class that have deployed their talents so stunningly as to be truly admirable.
What is the trait you most deplore in yourself? On the rare occasion when it occurs, slovenly thinking.
What is the trait you most deplore in others?  Irrationality.
What is your greatest extravagance? I suppose some would say my clothing. But as its necessary to the impression I need to make for my work, it really is not an extravagance.
What is your favorite journey? Walking the streets of London, the finest city in the world.
What do you consider the most overrated virtue? Modesty.
On what occasion do you lie? In pursuance of a case, constantly.
What do you dislike most about your appearance? I have no opinions on my appearance.
Which living person do you most despise? Of all the miscreants I have encountered, I find blackmailers to be the most despicable.
What is your greatest regret? I don’t have any great regrets. However, I do have minor regrets that at times my intellect or impatience might be hurtful to those who don’t deserve it.
What or who is the greatest love of your life? I have no answer for this.
Which talent would you most like to have? I believe the talents I have are sufficient to justify my work and my life.
What is your current state of mind? I am currently mentally categorizing blood spatter patterns, so you could say bloody-minded.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? I…might like to be able to slow down my thinking using natural means.
What do you consider your greatest achievement? Coming back from the dead.
If you could choose what to come back as, what would it be? Myself.
What is your most treasured possession? My mind.
What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery? Being cut off from my life here in London.
Where would you like to live? No place other than here.
What is your most marked characteristic?  Ability to observe.
What is the quality you most like in a man? Bravery.
What is the quality you most like in a woman? Intelligence.
What do you most value in your friends? I…don’t have many friends, but I suppose I’ll say loyalty.
Who are your favorite writers? Shakespeare, Goethe, Flaubert.
Who is your favorite hero of fiction? I have no heroes of fiction.
Who are your heroes in real life? None, other than the aforementioned Dr. Bell.
What is it that you most dislike? Foggy thought.
How would you like to die? I know how I would NOT like to die.
What is your motto? “All Truth Can Be Known.”

Next up, Dr. John Watson, noted companion of the great Sherlock Holmes. [“Makes me sound like a dog that does.”] No offense meant, Dr. Watson!

What is your idea of perfect happiness? Feet up in front of the fire, good book, glass of whisky.
What is your greatest fear? Losing a loved one, I suppose.
Which historical figure do you most identify with? William Wallace. Brave man, principled.
Which living person do you most admire? I’d like to say Sherlock Holmes, but it might go to his head and make him even more insufferable than he already is.
What is the trait you most deplore in yourself? Laziness.
What is the trait you most deplore in others?  Dishonesty.
What is your greatest extravagance? Enjoy a bit of a wager now and then.
What is your favorite journey? Train trip to the countryside.
What do you consider the most overrated virtue? Dunno, really. All virtues are of value, aren’t they?
On what occasion do you lie? As a doctor, must do at times.
What do you dislike most about your appearance? Quite used to my looks by now. Sometimes wouldn’t mind a little extra height.
Which living person do you most despise? Rather not name him, thanks.
Which words or phrases do you most overuse? Find myself saying, “Right, right” rather a lot.
What is your greatest regret? Got a few regrets about some romances gone south.
What or who is the greatest love of your life? Not sure I’ve had anything like that.
When and where were you happiest? Quite happy with life currently. A few annoyances, but good overall.
Which talent would you most like to have? Musical. And I’d like to be able to cook a good meal now and again.
What is your current state of mind? Just said, didn’t I. Quite happy.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? Got a few scars wouldn’t mind being shot of.
What do you consider your greatest achievement? Getting this far.
If you could choose what to come back as, what would it be? Don’t really believe it that kind of thing, but I suppose being a dog on a country estate wouldn’t be half bad.
What is your most treasured possession? Don’t put much stock in possessions.
What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery? Don’t mind admitting it-depression.
Where would you like to live? Here’s good.
What is your most marked characteristic?  Pretty stubborn, that’s worked out all right for me.
What is the quality you most like in a man? Courage.
What is the quality you most like in a woman? Tolerance.
What do you most value in your friends? Able to just hang round, have a pint, enjoy a match.
Who are your favorite writers? Great admirer of Kipling. Modern day? I like a good spy story, so Ian Fleming, Le Carre.
Who is your favorite hero of fiction? Guess I’ll say James Bond then.
Who are your heroes in real life? There again, I’d best not say.
What is it that you most dislike? A refrigerator full of body parts.
How would you like to die? Rather focus on living, thank you very much.
What is your motto? “Excelsior!”

Now for a special touch,  we’re talking to the wonderful Mrs. Martha Hudson, housekeeper to the famed detective. [“Landlady, dear, not housekeeper.”] Mrs. Hudson, you’ve gotten some touch of fame living here at 221. We’d like to learn more about the woman who watches out for the men.

What is your idea of perfect happiness? Gossiping over a nice cuppa, or a glass of wine. Listening to my favorite music, anything from the 60s will do.
What is your greatest fear? Doesn’t do to have too many fears, does it? Don’t care much for spiders.
Which historical figure do you most identify with? Bonnie of Bonnie and Clyde. As she was in the movie, Faye Dunaway. So dashing and adventurous.
Which living person do you most admire? I quite admire Detective Inspector Lestrade. Such a hard working man, so dedicated. And rather dishy.
What is the trait you most deplore in yourself? I suppose that I’m too tempted by a sexy man. Makes for bad choices sometimes.
What is the trait you most deplore in others?  Untidyness.
What is your greatest extravagance? Bought myself a diamond ring back when…I was more flush.
What is your favorite journey? Anywhere sunny and beachy with fruity drinks served by young men in Speedos.
What do you consider the most overrated virtue? Tact.
On what occasion do you lie? As needed, as needed.
What do you dislike most about your appearance? I’m always a bit surprised when I look in the mirror, older than I feel, you know. But I’m quite content with my appearance; wouldn’t do to be otherwise, would it?
Which living person do you most despise? That man from the American CIA, dreadful individual, and so crass. Didn’t at all mind seeing him get his comeuppance, never mind the damage to the dustbins.
Which words or phrases do you most overuse? “Not your housekeeper, dear.”
What is your greatest regret? Ah. That I spent so many years with my ex-husband before I realized he was leading me down the garden path. And not the Garden of Eden.
What or who is the greatest love of your life? Speak of the Devil, I must admit, my ex-husband was quite a man.
When and where were you happiest? I miss my carefree youth, but I’m happy now as I am.
Which talent would you most like to have? I’ve thought about taking up painting, oils, not watercolors. Still might.
What is your current state of mind? Quite content, a bit sleepy.
If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be? Can’t think of a thing at the moment.
What do you consider your greatest achievement? Making it past 60.
If you could choose what to come back as, what would it be? It would be fun to be a Blonde Bombshell for one lifetime.
What is your most treasured possession? Oh, I have so many lovely things that I’ve collected and as gifts. At the moment, I adore this silver teapot that Sherlock gave me, the dear boy.
What do you regard as the lowest depth of misery? Realizing you have to turn your husband in to the authorities.
Where would you like to live? Baker Street!
What is your favorite occupation?  Let’s be honest, I did enjoy the exotic dancing.
What is your most marked characteristic?  Tenacity.
What is the quality you most like in a man? Charm and joie de vivre. Must have fun, dears!
What is the quality you most like in a woman? Able to enjoy a good gossip.
What do you most value in your friends? That they’re there when you need them.
Who are your favorite writers? I love mysteries and romance. All kinds.
Who is your favorite hero of fiction? I adore James Bond. Especially Daniel Craig.
Who are your heroes in real life? I do admire all these women leaders around the world. It’s extra hard for a woman to be in power, more success to them!
What is it that you most dislike? Mean people. Dirty windows. Burnt toast.
How would you like to die? Not applicable!
What is your motto? “A spot of tea can cure anything.”
