I'm now going to go and try some electrolysis. Apparently plucking and waxing hair off your face/chin only makes it worse despite what people might say. So now I am trying the 'final solution ( Read more... )

Ah, *that* sort of electrolysis. To me, the word means passing current through a liquid with the evolution of gases [usually Hydrogen and Oxygen, but maybe Chlorine too if it's seawater you're playing with].

Having annoyingly-recurrent and long black hairs growing on my ears, perhaps I should consider getting myself Electrolysed too?

I did feel a bit concerned when she handed me something looking suspiciously like an electrode and said 'hold this'. Luckily I didn't get coated in copper or anything like that.

I was quite relieved to find that there are modern methods of electrolysis, where instead of each hair requiring 3-5 seconds of shock, they can now do it with a split second "so quick the brain can't register"...I wouldn't go THAT far, I could feel it but it wasn't that bad.

It probably wouldn't cost much if it was just on your ears as you pay by time. Needs a few sessions to get rid of it.

Skin grafts with non-hairy skin are the 'final solution'.

Er, I'd say getting a tattoo was a good bit more painful than electrolysis... electrolysis didn't even compare with having my ears pierced. o.o

see above comment to megadog.. I didn't realise that it was no longer as painful as it used to be. Actually it was less painfull than plucking the hairs out, though my skin is a bit sore now

Dude, I need to do this. I have a friend who tried it though, and said that it got very expensive since it needs so many sessions to actually "destroy" the hair follicles so they create no more hairs. She gave up. :( I hope it works for you! It would give me hope that I can do it, too!
