I enjoyed the last paragraph the best. If the Archbishop of Canterbury were a serial killer, I'm sure we'd get a lot more conversions from the Anglicans.
I thought some of the comments had a lot more gravitas than the vague statements in the actual article. We know that Shakespeare's father was a Catholic from his will.
Given that England had been pretty much staunchly Catholic prior to HVII and top down changes take a long time, I think it is safe to say that he, along with many others who attended CofE services had traditional Catholic beliefs despite the 39 articles.
