If you decide you want an actual party, you should just have it at your parents house. Especially if you don't know a month before if you'll have your own place. We just had it at the house and I made cake for the guests and a little one for Maeve to get all messy in. We had a little buffet of cheese and crackers and fruit kind of things. The 1st birthday party is for the parents and other adults anyway, she wouldn't remember if it was just you and Allen anyway! I can't believe she's almost 1!!

Yeah, I will probably have to have it here. I wanted to avoid it because my mom get so stressed out about everything and immediately admits that the house *used* to be a disaster (it's never ever a disaster) and apologizes for everything ("sorry, there's a small stain on this chair") and it honestly stresses her out. Like, beyond the normal stress and apologies any hostess normally gives. Then afterwards, she worries whether there was enough room, if people had fun, and really takes it to the next stress level, and I always feel so bad for her. But on some level, she enjoys it.

I was going to do a giant cupcake for Alana (since I spent $30 on it, if you ever want to borrow it PLEASE let me know!!!) and smaller cupcakes for the guests. BTW, where did you get the ideas for your cupcakes? Was it from Hello Cupcakes?

Yep, Hello Cupcake was it!! If you want to borrow it just let me know, there are a ton of cute ideas and I'd be glad to help you make/decorate them if you want. They're easy but take a lot of time.
