My darling Frances; I am SOSOSO sorry that this took so damn long. Even now, I'm not even sure that it turned out the way I wanted it to. I don't think I could really capture the feeling I was going for, but you know. It's done. It almost killed me trying to get it out, but it's done. I hope it at least sort of lives up to the expectation

I agree with everyone else--this is a beautiful piece, and shows a really messed up but realistic side to Inara, and exactly the kind of reaction to Miranda that you'd expect from Mal.

But Inara NEEDS to be smacked! Hard!

And that's how I see Simon. He cares for Kaylee, sure. But he doesn't really THINK about her, you know? She's never first on his mind. That's how I see it, anyway. So when Inara threw herself on him, Kaylee never really entered his mind until the very end when he began thinking again.

Surfing over from the_cortex - Poor manipulated Simon! I've always shipped Simon/Inara, so his attraction to her makes perfect sense to me. I totally buy him having a moment of weakness with Inara even though he's with Kaylee.

Thank you! Personally, I believe that Simon definitley has an attraction to Inara; she's the type of beauty that he's used to, and he's comfortable with her, and I can just see him clinging to that. I can see them clinging to that about each other.
