well then i personally reccomend two awesome authors named brent weeks and joe abercrombie. there works are very dark and lean towards the gritty side [and their not new zealand fantasies either], but they are just so GOOD. i urge you to check them out. [extra note:they are both epic fantasy authors. but their debut works are trilogies]. and ill also throw in scott lynch [brilliant author, also in the epic fantasy area] for good measure.
