What is "excessive" licking?

After living on our front porch for a week and refusing to leave, we've taken in a stray. We've looked for his original humans, but the signs we put up, the ads on Craig's List and other local "lost/found  pets" places gave us no leads, and so now we have in the house the sweetest black 1-year-old boy I've ever met ( Read more... )

Ooo a new kitty!? I bet Tommy is the one that's "okay" with him so far...

When Cheeto was neutered they didn't give him a cone and he did lick a bit but not too much and it healed fine. I'd say as long as everything continues to look good then he's fine. Neutering heals pretty fast because it's usually a very small incision compared to spays.

Yup. Tommy still hisses a little, and hesitates to eat in front of him from time to time (REALLY unusual for Tommy!) but they've done the nose-to-nose thing through a screen ok. Mietze, on the other hand, is VERY unhappy.
