How come it left your head spinning? Are they married to or seeing anyone in their... er... first lives? Or just their second lives? I'd feel like I was rather cheating and being subversive doing that, myself, and if my wife or girlfriend did it, I'd feel quite depressed.

I feel left out of your life lately. I suppose that's because I'm not in your second life. :) I wish I could get an account. I've tried signing up numerous times and have had problems. I suppose I should e-mail them. I do have it installed and everything, though!

I'm also a little worried i'd get too absorbed in it.

This article says Second Life is waning. What do you think?

Nah...the problem is that people just come in and throw up "brochure ware" type stuff...no one comes to see that. It's like the dot com "boom"...lotsa people rushed in who didn't know anything. The places that get attention are those that are interactive.

Most weekends there are now 45,000 people logged in simultaneously--when I began in March there weren't more than 25,000.

corwyn13 ;) I guess if those people choose to look at SL as a game, OR if they are in open relationships in RL, perhaps it does not strike them as odd at all to marry in SL?

The bride however looks very dark to me, kinda creepy. I think bride of Frankenstein more than bride, maybe it's just me!

yeah..figured out your new name when you added me as a friend and I read your first post.

"I guess if those people choose to look at SL as a game, OR if they are in open relationships in RL, perhaps it does not strike them as odd at all to marry in SL?"

Based on my experiences there with friendships, I don't think it's that simple. I don't think anyone there would see SL as a game. But it does feel like another place and it is contained by it's context. It is a fantasy-world--LOL a very real one at that. So I think that SL itself creates a frame that allows you to compartmentalize in some ways.

hi cathawk. sorry to be so absent. i hope you have been doing well! i think i'm feeling stuck in my life and it's getting to me, so i'm less motivated to do some things like LJ. i'm sorry (if you knew how hard i've been working to change the hermit status/isolation....and it hasn't really changed).

this SL stuff really has be intrigued (thanks for posting pics...very cool). i'm quite interested but.....what does it satisfy in you that you don't get in real life? if you want to share. i like it that people seem to take it seriously.

i'm glad you're having some fun!! (don't work too hard :))

Good to hear from you!

Hmm...SL works for me on many dimensions...I like exploring..it's fascinating to see how people apply it. And then I love the live music. But most of all I love the community--the people you meet (just like LJ).
