another part of my CSI fic

Writing has been a much needed therapy for me in the past week. So here is part of the result of that.

Sara leaned over Greg’s shoulder staring at the results on his computer screen. She tried to focus her attention on what he was explaining to her, but her eyes and her mind kept drifting up to the woman working in the room across the hall. Sara could see her through the several layers of glass between them. Catherine was bent over the photographs that were spread out on the table in front of them. She studied each one carefully with a magnifying glass.

Only minutes earlier they had torn themselves out of each other’s arms in the vehicle in the parking lot. Sara would have like nothing more than to pull the blonde into the back seat and have her way with her, but there was work to be done, and there were several hours left to go before either of them would be free. They’d gone their separate ways as soon as they entered the lab, each having their share of evidence to process. Warrick was still at the scene finishing up.

“Sara?” Greg’s voice interrupted her thoughts for the third time. He followed her gaze to the woman across the hall and sighed as he realized she had not heard a word he’d said.

“Sorry, Greg…one more time.” She turned her brown eyes to him, and he set about explaining the numbers on the screen yet again.

She managed to keep her focus long enough to absorb what he was saying this time. Thanking him, she brushed her hand lightly over his shoulder and turned and left the room. She crossed the hall and slowed as she stepped through the doorway. Catherine was still unaware of her presence there, and Sara took advantage of the moment to study her. The blonde worked with a determined concentration. Sara had always admired how Catherine could remain so focused at work despite what was going on with her personally. And Lord knew, Catherine had had her share of personal troubles since Sara had been working with her. Sara was immediately filled with a longing to erase anything that hurt the blonde, but, she realized with a sigh, the past was the past and couldn’t be changed. Her soft sigh drew the attention of the blonde.

Catherine looked up and found Sara watching her from the doorway. She smiled at the brunette. Seeing her brought the feel of those lips against her rushing back into Catherine’s head. As Sara approached her, Catherine’s senses were filled with the sight and scent of her. The photos on the table were forgotten, as Catherine fought the urge to hook her arm around Sara’s waist and pull her closer. She was, however, very aware of the long expanse of windows that made this particular room visible to anyone in the hallway.

“God, but you are distracting, Sara.” Catherine mumbled as she lowered her eyes to the photos once again.

“Really, Catherine? You wouldn’t know it from looking at you. I don’t know how you do it.”

“Do what?”

“Stay so focused. When all I can think about is taking you right here on this table.” Sara’s words were spoken hoarsely, her voice and eyes conveying the need that burned in the pit of her stomach.

Other than Catherine’s blue eyes which darkened at her words, she appeared to be unmoved by Sara’s words. However, her insides shook with arousal that surged up fast and hard.

“How about breakfast at my place after shift?” Catherine asked casually.

“That’s four hours from now.”

“Patience, Sidle. It will be worth the wait.” Catherine purred before turning back to her work.
