First off: that picture is bookshelf porn and I'm a closeted librarian at heart. I think that should tell you what it does to me.

Now, for the fic itself. I don't know how you do it, I don't even like Chibi-Usa, but I like Chibi-Usa in this one. Really like her. She's so calm, so not annoying, and such a pleasant little person in this fic, and still, I think she's in character. Only in less annoying. So yes. You win. Obviously.

I love everything about this fic, from the shabby loveseat to the bookseller to his neighbour telling Chibi-Usa about his death and to him leaving the shop to the princess, having known all along who she was.

Then I would like some book pronz now, please.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I think teenage!Chibi-Usa is probably way less annoying than her little brat self.

I'm so glad! I was hoping that bit wasn't too cheesy and shit. I'm not fond of the cheese.

Woman, you are fast. I put this up like, what... an hour ago? I wish I could do that. Me, I'm just like... I'll read it... tumblr... reading? uh... yeah I have to... do stuff.

Oh damn, this made me kind of tear up a little. At first I thought "wait, Usagi in a book store?" but then I caught on that it's the other Usagi and the more I think about it, the more it makes sense. Not just in how meaningful the store is to her because it represents an escape, but also because she's got some of her father in her and that's bound to come out eventually.

I love how he treats her so familiarly, like he would a granddaughter, right down to being demanding. I love how he secretly knew all along who she was, and he treated her the same anyway.

So lovely!

Yeah, I always like to refer to teenage!Chibiusa as Usa or Usagi, just because it seems weird that she would be called Chibiusa in that time period, especially when her mother doesn't go by Usagi.

I also always imagined teenage!Chibiusa as being more her father's daughter when it comes to her intellect and studies. She always took it more seriously in the manga than Usagi did, so I'm glad you felt like that made sense :D

So glad that you didn't find that bit abhorrently cheesy (I almost didn't include it). But I figure if the daughter of your government's leaders regularly visits your shop, someone will let you know.

Thanks so much!

Heh, all of your thoughts about Chibi Usa are just like mine! I also feel that she would eventually switch to Usagi, since it is technically her real name. And yeah, there are definite hints about her being serious and studious as she gets older, like in the Materials Collection story. I don't know, I find older Chibi Usa so fascinating for that reason--we only ever see her as an Usagi clone, but there are so many tiny hints that she's got a lot of Mamoru in her that probably just haven't shown themselves yet.

I completely agree with this.

When I write about Chibi Usa, I mostly write about her as a teenager or older.

i agree with everything else that's already been said here, but i have to add that i just love your flair for description, with the coffee and yellowing pages...*sigh* my mom is a librarian and it totally makes me think of tagging along with her to work when i was a kid, hiding behind the shelves and reading for hours. i also really like that you did something so unexpected with the prompt - chibiusa is one of the last people i think you'd expect to find in a bookstore ;D

That means so much! I'm glad it came off realistically. Yeah, I have such an old book fetish (what a hipster o.O).

It's funny that you say you wouldn't expect Chibiusa to be in a bookstore, because I've always imagined her to be more along the lines of Mamoru when it comes to her intellectual side. It's funny how different peoples' interpretations of the same source material can be :D

oh, i totally see eye to eye with you on chibiusa being a smart cookie, just like her dad. i meant more that with a theme like "bookstore", the easy or obvious route would be, say, ami or taiki, and i love that you did something different :)

*sniff* This is so sweet. Also, I don't know what to write for this prompt because I am too busy drooling over the books in this photo and Shakesspeare & Company in Paris looks JUST like this.

D'aww <3 And yeah, it's a gorgeous picture. I almost used another, and then at the last minute I was like "BUT LOOK AT THE PRESH!" and went with it.

There you go again, makin' me jealous of your Parisian rendezvous.

Thanks for the comment, love.
