Backing up LJ

This month marks my 48th as an LJer, and god bless it for sticking around virtually unchanged for all these years. Now I'd like to go about figuring out how to preserve this chronicling of my life, should something happen to LJ unexpectedly. I was starting to go through and save each page, but then I realized that wouldn't capture the comments ( Read more... )

I was working on a program to do this for Felicity, but I got side-tracked. I'm pretty sure there are programs that will accomplish something similar to what you're after - I think Joan uses one, maybe?

No, mine doesn't get comments. But it does automatically get the entry history and save it to your computer, and you can subsequently update that history. I use Xjournal. (It's also for posting, but I don't use it for that.)

That seems to only help you migrate it to another LJ-style server, unless I'm missing the option that helps you put it on your own desktop or your own server...
