Fallen Knights Forum

To all of my flisters who are members at Fallen Knights:

The forum is down due to us exceeding the number of allowed hits on the server. Again. This is maxing out every day, thus I just called my hosting service....I am moving the forum to a higher priced server to stop with this. However, it will now cost me $600.00 per year to keep FK going. So as ( Read more... )

Thank you for the information!

What you do for the site is more than most appreciated, dear but in all honesty I have to add a serious: are you insane to pay so much for such a site? No offense, really - I hope you know that but gosh, it is just kind of a fan site. Take that money and enjoy a nice long weekend with your husband somewhere... Personally I think people could live with these downtimes per day. Learn not to refresh the site every few seconds and this won't happen, guys.

Did you ever try these advertised stuff?

And again I want to point out that all your efforts are most appreciated - I am just thinking of you.

Your Knight.

I do truly appreciate your thoughts on the matter, dear. The reason I wouldn't bother with the advertisd (free sites) is our downtime would be even worse. And no technical support and so on. I will be asking for donations to help cover my costs, but not requiring them. And if I reach a point where I decide that it isn't worth it, then I sell the name or close the site down. That wasn't an option or isn't an option for me right now because I still enjoy it. I have sent a message to Avalon as well, not sure how she feels about the new expense and all either.

One thing is for sure though, I may become even more evil and not put up with any nonsense from those members who have previously given me headaches. *laughs* So Lancelot had best be nicer to Arthur *evil cackle* j/k

Ah, ok, I did not know that the downtimes would be worse. I juust know sites where/boards where it is the other way round. Allow advertises and get free traffic limit.

And I will tell Lancleot the next time I speak to him *winks*
But seriously I think that it is not worth to have any headaches due to several members. It is the net, not your real life. They don't like your rules? Fine, not your problem. End of discussion.

Can you give me links to these sites that you know of? It is worth checking out. The fallback for me is my extremely limited knowledge of database management. *laughs* My host server is doing all of it for me. I have a few online friends that I intend to contact as well. I might yet find an alternative for the future. But to keep the site going right now, paying for the larger server was the fastest way.

Heya, Lessy - I hate to see good fansites die, so I'm donating a measly, sorry :( $10! $600 is psycho-expensive for you to pay by yourself! (that's about... $50 per month, right?)

Oh honey bless you! Thank you so much! *hugs* But I don't think you are even a member at Fallen Knights are you? *laughs* What I plan to do, whenever I get the forum back up *grumbles* is do something for everyone who contributes. Probably a hidden board with some fun things or something. Anyways, I sure appreciate your kindness and support. And yep, I will be billed $50 per month. But I am looking into alternatives.....this was just the fastest way since my host will move the database for me instead of me struggling with SQL *laughs* I am a little afraid of moving to a free forum hosting service with my extremely limited knowledge of phpbb databases.

Haha, I'm not, but hey, what are friends for? :D I've always been interested in Fallen Knights anyway (it looks like a great site! I think I may have used some pics for banners one time or another.), just been too crazy with Parma and Sheen and stuff to get off my butt and join. I think I have some room on my favorites bar for a new site now :P I tried phpbb a couple times just for fun and I kind of went crazy. I hate it when you get used to something and then you upgrade/downgrade/change programming and POOF you have to re-learn the entire system!

I just wanted to echo the sentiments above, KUDOS to you for your "love of the game" so to speak - you NEVER really know how a site affects you until it is gone (still having a few withdrawals from ioanonline.com closing)

I, too, appreciate ALL the work you and your moderators do to make it run for our enjoyment. The pics, scripts, chat and especially the stories. I check EVERY morning to see what is new with "the gang".

I am still getting a blank page when I type in the address tho - did the site move? or is it still "under re-construction"? Sorry to be a pest - I just don't want to get left behind.

Thanks again for ALL you do and your dedication to those sexy knights.

Thanks so much Gerdie! My hosting service is taking way too long to move the database and same with the URL. *growls* The site can still be accessed at http://www.elessarsrealm.com/fallenknights/index.shtml and always will. But the new URL will point there once it is working. I will post here once it is all functional again as well, so feel free to 'friend' me or bookmark my lj. I also can't believe that April had to close IoanOnline. But StevieT did create a new forum for all the members of IO to jump over to... http://ioanzone.19.forumer.com/index.php so you can still get your Ioan fix there *winks*

Take care and thank you again for your wonderful support. I truly appreciate it.
