Fannish Origins Meme

First TV show I had self-insertion fantasies about:
I honestly cannot remember if it was seaQuest or Highlander. Shut up.
I actually really liked several aspects of seaQuest, corny as it was, and loved the thought of exploring all the unknown here on Earth. Highlander had the mystical Immortals and awesome fight scenes and chicks with swords who most definitely knew how to use them.
First fandom in which I interacted (online and in person) with other fans:
Xena. I simply did not have that much Internet access until college, and seaQuest was canceled my Freshman year and threnodyjones helped me find sites and I met drag_on_king both online and in person and the whole Xenaversity thing and the writing of vast amounts of fanfic that I will now not admit to and multiple conventions and... yeah.
Pairing in the first slash fanfiction I read:
Pretty sure it was Duncan/Methos because the Xena fandom at the time only really had "subtext" and not a whole lot of femslash. There is the slight possibility it could have been Hercules/Iolaus as they tended to do more than look pretty and brush each other's hair.
First RPS/RPF I read:
I don't read much RPF, but it was Colin/Bradley and the awesome "Wherein Colin is Bradley's Baby-Momma" mpreg crack fic. Totally awesome.
First fanfiction I read that made me think, YES, this is exactly the kind of fanfiction I'd like to write...
I am honestly not sure. The first actual fanfic I wrote was a Highlander fic before I even knew what fanfic was. It was for my Sci-Fi/Fantasy class in high school. I vaguely remember threnodyjones and one other friend telling me about fic online and talking me into writing my own. If I had to guess, I would say there is a distinct possibility it was something by Missy Good (Merwolf) in the Xena fandom but, really, the woman not only went pro, but had the writers of the actual show told not to read her work until they gave up and hired her themselves.
Pairing in the first fanfiction I wrote:
It was either my original character/Lucas in a seaQuest fic that maybe one other person ever saw, or Xena/Gab in fic that was actually available for others to read. This was followed shortly by Gab/Ephiny and then the natural progression to Xena/Gab/Ephiny.
First OTP:
Xena/Gabrielle.
First RPS/F OTP:
See above re: not really reading a lot of RPS, so no OTP there.
First fannish friend I met in person:
I knew threnodyjones before I knew what fandom was, so probably drag_on_king. We met on the site Xena: Warrior Lesbian, and she told me about Xenaversity being local, and we met "in person" there. We've known each other about 14 years now.
First character I formally roleplayed:
Hrm, I dressed as an Amazon for a few things, including Xenaveristy's rendition of The Bitter Suite, but I also online rp'd K'eylar (who now I can't even remember ow to spell her name correctly - Worf's sweetie from STNG) with a bunch of people. When things got boring in the game, a bunch of us would just start random fights or make things blow up and blame the others - the mod didn't always know what to do with us, but she did laugh at our antics, so there's that. *g*
So, this possibly wasn't as interesting as it could have been, but the problem with origin memes like this is that, well, you have to remember that far back and this dips into some of the time I have totally blocked from my memory. Oh well, suffice it to say, I found this thing called fandom years ago and have not let go of it since. :)
