I'm actually rather liking the new series of Doctor Who. I like Donna as a companion now that they've toned her down from the bawling hysteria of Runaway Bride - and it's nice to see a companion with a touch of maturity. I was particularly impressed with the storyline of last episode with Donna's influencing the Doctor (or trying..) to do the right ( Read more... )

I never thought I'd say this....but make that two.

I've liked her so far, and personally am liking the lack of doe-eyes from Donna towards the Doctor as well :)

not bothered one way or the other....

However I did feel like causing mass destruction at the cockney b0wlacks that they were spouting in the streets of Pompeii. All of a sudden they become cockney wiedboys WTF???

Oh, I actually thought that was really funny - a lovely incongrous touch of surprise humour. And the whole thing about the tardis translation circuits making "actual" latin sound Welsh was funny, too.

The TARDIS had to translate the street-talk into cockney so that Donna could understand it. Natch.

Currently, I also approve of Donna's dynamic, but its early days.

(Kaz highly approved of the episode because she was forced to do Latin at school, and the family in the textbooks lived in Pompeii and had the same names as the family that the Doctor and Donna meet)

(I also loved the Spartacus gag)

Oh yeah, definitely still early days. Still, promising - and I'm looking forward to the revelation on the metaplot. Interesting twist on that, actually - normally we just get little hints all season and then a big revelation, whereas this season they've gone for a big event first thing, with the tantalising promise of explanations at the end of the arc. Interesting, I think.

I respect for your wisdom and experience, and hence I shall permit you to continue to hold your opinion even though I believe you to be wrong.

Thus, I am the bigger man. Fnar.

*lofty*

See, Bin, I tried to rise above you, I really did... Yet somehow you bring it down to this petty, petty level.

I'm disappointed in you Bin, and frankly, I think you should be too.

It's like watching one of your childhood heroes stab a puppy in the face with a spoon.
