Fic: Had I as many souls as there be stars

I've been working on this story for a long time - writing a draft, putting it away, rewriting it, getting someone to look at it, reworking it... Finally, it's done. I hope you enjoy reading it.

It's a Tyrian and Benedict story. Diverges wildly from canon - in this story, they have an ongoing relationship. (Don't we all want them to?) The third major ( Read more... )

Great beginning! I must admit, I never read Tyrian/Benedict before, and it is interesting to see in how far they are different from their later reincarnations

Well, as I said - it's a long way from canon, but quite good fun to write.

Cold drink, nice place in the garden and lots of time for reading your fic - can a summer be better than this?

August is our coldest month here where I live. It's not cold by European standards but I'm sick of the frosty mornings. Spring's just around the corner. Enjoy reading!

Well, I must say it's been a productive summer (or winter) for all of us! Great story, really. To date I have read only a few bits and pieces about Tyrian and Benedict, and your story is probably the most extensive narrative referring to them so far. I also enjoyed very much that you preserved the vocabulary and the 'atmosphere' of those times so accurately. It literally felt like time-travelling to the Elizabethan era. You also made good use of the true historical facts like the war between England and Spain, the pursuit of the heretics, Sir Walter Raleigh's expeditions etc. It's not easy to tailor a fictional tale to fit history so believably, but you pulled it off really well. I hope to read more such stories in the future (even at the cost of seeing less of Eroica and the Major). Btw, thank you for your comment on my story as well, and once again, good work!

Hi Eirini - so happy that you enjoyed it! It was great fun blending fact and fiction. I tried very hard to use what we know of Marlowe's last days alive as a framework for the second part of the story.

For anyone who wants to read a really good fictionalised account of Marlowe's life, I recommend "A Dead Man in Deptford" by Anthony Burgess. Someone was working on a film based on Burgess's book back in 2010/2011 but as far as I know it hasn't ever been released. Anyone know any more about it?
