BTW, why do you think that final moment is the hawtest re the eyeforking? I actually don't like the lip biting *slaps her*, but love the (Jenny's words) 'swagger'

I'm going to be really judgmental and obnoxious in the comm, aren't I?

It was hard to chose, but #4 is the only one she didn't return with a death-stare-of-season-uno.

And, come on, I Rick loved that lip bite!

U fangirl.

WHAT IS WITH YOU????

You don't like the lip bite? Um hello.

It's at this point when she knows she's got him cause you see the confidence all over her face, and then her arse as she walks away.

I'm not going to spam you, hon, coz I need to chat to you down thread too, so I'll do that LATER (re the clothes, hair, hyphenated names, mullets, buttons) but I just wanted to say:

LOL

I'm not a lover of the lip bite, but I am of the walkin' away. It's unpopular, but what's a non-lip biter to do?

This is so great, going back to the beginning when it was all so new and fresh and 'scruffy'. Yummy scruffy Rick - so much better ( ... )

Hey you. Welcome and thanks for your educated spiel. We hope to have you rehooked and ready by the time S4 comes around, Beckett long hair and salon stuff included ; )

I think this has certainly reduced as time has gone on, hasn't it:

I love that he pays no attention to any of her orders, NONE and just does what he likes. This is where I fell for him because he was really annoying me with his fun and mischief, and I LOVE IT.

In the rewatch, Tam, that really hit me. He just did whatever she said NOT to, but I think with the evolution of their partnership, he's become more compliant. I REALLy get that annoyance/baiting/sizzle stuff happening in season 1.

YES to the scruffy Castle. do you like his clothes nowadays? I do, but I might be in the minority. I love the collared shirts, although he doesn't wear enough casual stuff anymore either!

Oh their entire first scene is AMAZING, I can't even!!!!!!! And he really checks out her arse when she leaves. :)AGREED. I hadn't see it in AGES. Is there a fanfic link to something about ( ... )

I agree about the evolution of their partnership, and this is the reason he's not fun anymore ;). As the time has gone on he's obviously seen a lot and realises that this shit is serious. But in the first ep/season it's not, it is just a bit of fun. He thinks he's bulletproof and nothing will happen where as KB KNOWS different.
They keep throwing a bit of him ignoring her advice/orders in but it's just not as blatant anymore. I wish he'd do something nutty and fun, not nutty and fucking stupid.

As for the clothes, nope I don't like them much. Aparently they are made to measure for him, but.... but.... BUT REALLY. The shirts look too big (maybe they are trying to hide something?), and some of the colour choices are really bad. Not as bad as KB's wardrobe in S3 but still.
I think he is too done up now. The shirts in this first ep are three buttons undone, and thinking to S2/3 I don't think they are ever more than one?

Nope I don't know about the fanfic link, sorry. I used to read A LOT but not anymore :(

Hey Pretend!Aussie girl. how's it hanging? Still amazed I don't like the lip biting, LOL

I'm not as keen on the plaid as the solid colouries and I'm also a massive fan of the open necked, disheveled look. However, it may be a whole 'I'm being a professional, contract consultant of the police department, so I need to look the part ( ... )

This is so awesome girls. Just what I needed to feed my Castle addiction for the summer. The less I get, the more I want, the more I need.

I got hooked on Castle after casually watching One Life to Lose. Pretty serendipitous if you ask me because that was the most perfect episode to watch the show for the first time.

Once I saw S3 Beckett hair- long, lustrous, gorgeous- there was basically no going back to S1 and S2 hair. S1 and S2 hair is actually really cute, but it is NO S3 hair.

Fave quote from Flowers, as Beckett handcuffs Castle to the car, and he digs out the cuff key from his wallet: "Cuff me once, shame on you. Cuff me twice, shame on me."

Welcome! *waves* Thanks for stopping by :D

YES to the cuff quote! That was a classic moment, wasn't it?

For me it's how she tricked him into the car. 'my spare is in my glove compartment'. Yeah right. Did he really think he was getting a gun THIS soon? *g*

Funny you should mention One Life to Lose. It's the first episode I watched 'real time' (I had marathoned everything up till then in the weeks prior). Great stuff, isn't it? Great hair too!

oh, yes, OLTL is classic. Light and intimate. It was that last scene with those two that sealed the deal for me that I had to start from the beginning.;)

Ryan 1.0... Listen to the commentary. There's a hilarious part when they are arresting the wrong guy in wrong guy's apartment, and they are discussing the hair and Ryan 1.0. "New York. Los Angeles. NY. LA. NY. LA"

Reading this is almost as good was watching the ep.

Scruffy!Rick FTW!

OH, the commentary, of course! I don't have the DVD sets myself, so could only guess about this other Ryan. Do they explain why they replaced the role??

I need to get the DVDs don't I? *orders*

Thanks for the input on this and for joining us here!

Scruffy!Rick FTW!
ITA. Yum :)

I think they do... it's been a while. They definitely talk about which parts were filmed in New York and which were filmed later in Los Angeles. They mention the hair, and Seamus of course, since he's not in the NY scenes.

You know, I used to wonder about that guy on the left and why it wasn't Seamus. I do remember reading somewhere how Seamus was cast later and I do believe in the commentary they talk about calling him the new kid.

I also recall reading somewhere that Lanie was only supposed to appear in the pilot but they liked her character so much that she became a regular.

I love this post. It's as good as actually watching the episode again.

Hi Bec :) Welcome!
Thanks for the input here! I'm really glad Lanie got to stay on as a regular, actually. Just to think she could have been in the pilot only, I don't mind so much anymore that every now and then they stick us with Perlmutter and we don't get to see her in those eps. There's always next week :D

Thank you. It's a great comm and you all seem very friendly :)

One other thing which is slightly different in the pilot is Castle's apartment. In the pilot it was nothing like the open-plan one we've seen since 1.02 onwards (which I love). I have this weird thing where I try to work out the floorplans for apartments I've seen in shows (even though I know they're entirely fictional and built on a soundstage and all that jazz...). Even after three seasons I'm still trying to work out the layout of Castle's.

Oh and the reason it is different is because the first ep was mostly shot in New York. And yes I agree his loft is AMAZING!
