I really feel ashamed of myself for ever making excuses for A-Rod. I never really liked him, but I always tried to rationalize the toolish things he's done in some way, and it turns out that first instincts were right and he is just an asshole. Text message! Ugh.
But Girardi makes things better. I can't wait to see what he does next season.
I know! I was always defending him. I knew he was politician-like, but I was still a fan and I hated when people kept bitching about every little thing. I bought his freakin' jersey and willed myself to believe that, hey, he really did want to stay even though there was a little voice in my head reminding me of every insincere comment he has made. It takes a special kind of jackass to leave three different teams in such ways that fan reaction is basically, "Fuck off."
But, yes, Girardi helps. His press conference made for some happiness.
Oh, and I hope your torrid love affair with Mr. Sizemore is going well. ;D
break up with us via text message. That's the best way I've heard it summed up. I'm tired of even talking about him, he doesn't deserve the time it takes to write about him. He's dirt.
I admit I would much rather have seen Mattingly in the manager's role, but I don't have much reason for that other than I know him better and I think his style would be more similar to Torre's. I guess the big changes just worry me a bit.
They're butchering him over here, from all corners of the media. It's a PR-disaster. Hah!
See, I wanted Girardi because he was different from Torre - he relies on the stats more, which was one thing that I felt Torre lacked. Plus, as a catcher, I see him as being able to handle this young pitching staff much better than the other candidates. I really wish that we could have kept Mattingly, though, because I do love him so and I love the reactions that he gets from fans when he so much as sneezes. I'll also miss Bowa. [sniff] At least Pena is still hanging around.
Oh, and I was looking at your LJ and was like, "Did the news kill her?" Heh. You were so quiet for those few days.
