I'm not sure I'm convinced that killing female characters carelessly is more common than killing male characters thoughtlessly. But maybe I haven't been watching looking for it

I kept on expecting the Amy and Rory would be left to have their own family and lives while the Doctor moved onto another companion.
I find the way that Moffat has brought babies and marriage into the series makes me feel that he is being sexist, but I vastly prefer the 'may possibly stay travelling all of time and space forever' to 'settles down to become a real adult in real life'. I kind of feel that Amy is written as wanting a family because she is in love with Rory, and is female, and doesn't seem to have any direction in life apart from Rory (and then being more than a little bit in love with the Doctor), which bugs me.
I do think it's time they were left to their own lives! If only because we can only be sure they're safe once they're well out of it. But I also enjoy the benefits of a continuing ensemble cast
