Those are adorable Jemima dolls, and that looks like a marvellous chair.

Having just now googled 'jumbles', they don't sound quite as exciting as I always imagined they were when reading the Katy books. I always assumed they involved more sugar or something, I don't know.

Our family tradition as far as ice cream goes is Crazy Pudding, which is basically ice cream with bits of Cherry Ripe, Peppermint Crisp, and Crunchie cut up into it and refrozen in a pudding bowl. Mum started making it when I was little because I didn't eat the hot Christmas pud, and she still makes it, and I still eat it, and there's always still a two dollar coin in the bottom of the bowl (rather than a sixpence).

Crazy pudding sounds awesome! I'm going for a layered one, chocolate icecream on the outside and turkish delight pink icecream in the middle. My girl wouldn't eat real pudding in a pink fit!

I love the dolls too. We found out about the pattern by accident when another Aussie friend Zeft was trying to explain to Kaia what the name 'Jemima' meant to Australians - I hunted down the book it originally came from in the state library and sent Kaia the pattern just IN CASE she had time to knit such things, because I can only do squares.

It's the best knitting book ever. The pattern for the knitted Mr Squiggle makes me dizzy with happiness that such a thing exists.

Oooh, the layered pudding sounds good. I think I'd have to be pink-fitting to eat real pudding too -- especially if Christmas Day ends up being the promised 28 degrees!

I can't knit at all, although I'd like to learn, because a friend of mine is having a baby and she says I'm going to be Auntie Lauren (we've known each other since before kinder), and I'd like to do the knitting thing. The baby was due on the 16th though so it might be a bit late to start...

Also, MR SQUIGGLE? How amazing! That would be one of my favourites to try and knit.

Mum's Christmas cake and fruit mince mixtures required well over a month of soaking in brandy, with regular turnings and testings.

Oh good.

I am a touch alarmed that if I make icecream with this fruit mince, I will be able to SET IT ON FIRE.

My gran soaked her fruit in 3 types of rum and brandy for about 4 mths before making Christmas cake and hers was the best around. Yours should be lovely.

I was going to make a trifle for my contribution to the family Christmas lunch, but now I'm making crazy icecream pudding. Sounds gorgeous (and much less fiddling around than trifle...lazy? Me?)

Love the JJs, wish I could knit *sigh*.
